Feedback, please!

I'm experimenting with a new colour scheme and would welcome your views. Is it easier to read; less or more attractive; better or worse than the old design?

UPDATE: as regular readers will notice, the old scheme is back. However, in the right-hand column is a link to some great instructions on viewing web pages in your choice of colours. Hopefully, people who find some schemes difficult to read will find this useful not just for my blog but generally.

given there were no photos, the colours are ok, i suppose. i'm a fan of the background formerly known as "black", however, as it helps to accentuate only those things that need accentuation.

you could try again with photos, see if it makes a diff. for text, it doesn't seem bad; just different.

I agree with Travelgirl. I think black works well because it makes a very clear distinction between the medias of online and the traditional printed page. Photographs look so good on on black, like photo albums ought to be.

I think it is a little bit too white. Black text on white is by far the most readable, but this looks a little bit too banal.

I think it's a vast improvement, given I can actually read the site now! I always used to stick to the RSS feed, because the light text on black background hurt my eyes. I like the font, too, especially since it resizes so gracefully (I have it bumped up a couple of sizes in my browser).

Perhaps you could add some kind of widget for people who prefer to view photos on a black background? (Though I think they look fine on this one - the border helps.) And some kind of header banner image for people who think the new design is too plain?

I preferred the old format, which I found easier to read.

Poor Caroline! You will never satisfy everyone, eh? I do like the lighter background; I have a hard time reading white text on black. But you know, you'll have to find what YOU like the best. Take suggestions as just that; suggestions, not final decisions. I hope you find something you fall in love with ;)

I don't think it looks as dramatic, I too enjoyed the black background. However if it is easier to read for some people, that is probably a good thing.

Thank you all! I'm still undecided, though the readability is an important factor... Decisions...
