I was told it was an old slaughterhouse, but have not been able to confirm that or find any other info on it.
There was a large grey tiled fireplace in the lounge, with leaping stags in relief. Each room had a smaller fireplace. The dining room had a large wooden mantle over the fire, and the tiny kitchen had a trap door that was over the passage way between the shops.
In the attics I found copious amounts of soot, along with some very old travelling chests, magazines & newspapers from early 1900's to 1930ish.
Behind the flat were some very low old buildings that are hidden from view from the roads.
Whether or not you believe in ghosts (I don't), there were some very strange goings on there. Objects moved, taps turned on full in the middle of the night, strange noises. I once came home from work to find a 10" high perfect mound of pine needles in the middle of the lounge, 3 months after Christmas!
The owner at that time also owned what was the antique shop below.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11704049882021973008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3287675141745937676.post-91128943516783405982015-12-16T20:47:42.954+00:002015-12-16T20:47:42.954+00:00If you do find out more, I'd love to know!If you do find out more, I'd love to know!CarolineLDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00197813252586559665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3287675141745937676.post-2788621920319895812015-12-13T17:56:01.340+00:002015-12-13T17:56:01.340+00:00The shop is Number 13 .
