New Cross history

Transpontine has highlighted some fascinating pieces of New Cross history lately, so here's a quick selection of links:

Skating rink mania - noise nuisance from a Victorian brass band.
New Cross evacuees - swapping south-east London for Sussex.
A lovely old postcard of Broadway Theatre, New Cross and a Victorian paper bag from Brockley Fruit and Vegetable Market.
Notable local residents Rowland Hilder - an American artist who spent part of his youth in New Cross - and R F Delderfield, New Cross-born novelist.

Thanks so much for these links, all about places that I remember from the time I lived on Telegraph Hill, not far from Delderfield's house in Waller Road.
