Mystery name

This is really just idle curiosity, but I'm hoping someone might know the answer!

While Margaret McMillan Park is closed, getting to Deptford High Street involves a diversion past Vaughan Williams Close. Googling doesn't throw up any significant links between Vaughan Williams and Deptford, and the Close doesn't appear to be surrounded by other composer-themed streets. Does anybody have any idea, then, why it has been given this name?

I've often wondered that myself! I just did a bit of a search and found a link that might explain it http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/Heddle_Nash - read almost to the bottom of the page.

There is Elgar Close as well that leads into Speedwell Street. I wonder whether it might have been inspired by the building over on Watson Street that is (was?) used for music education.

Note that as the Heddle_Nash link also cites a relationship with Elgar
