Mydiddee's story is there in the chapters on the journey of Pappo from Tahiti to Jamaica.
Regards
MM
Jamaica Jakartahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00256467243603304695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3287675141745937676.post-80351055136989474012009-07-16T09:32:46.154+01:002009-07-16T09:32:46.154+01:00Thank you for that information: I'd read that ...Thank you for that information: I'd read that there was a stowaway who left the ship in Jamaica but didn't know more than that.

And what a fascinating ancestor to have!CarolineLDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00197813252586559665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3287675141745937676.post-61689816423621195742009-07-14T22:32:21.675+01:002009-07-14T22:32:21.675+01:00Hi Caroline,

However, Pappo when the Providence reached Jamaica stayed there in Jamaica to oversee the transplanting of the Breadfruit plants with Dr. Anderson. Both of these men died at Jamaica, Pappo within one month not unlike Mydiddee there in England.

Maurice Bligh attended the ceremonies for the marking of Mydiddee's grave there along with many others that paid their respects. A nice write-up at the time in the UK papers along with photos.

Enjoyed your article!

David Townsend
g.g.g.g. nephew
Thomas Ledward, surgeon
HMAV BountyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3287675141745937676.post-55617104899437645612009-06-02T20:26:16.047+01:002009-06-02T20:26:16.047+01:00I'd never heard of that one, thank you!I'd never heard of that one, thank you!CarolineLDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00197813252586559665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3287675141745937676.post-40669087698869002532009-06-02T20:18:58.847+01:002009-06-02T20:18:58.847+01:00There's also the grave Mahomet Weyonomon - a Nativ...There's also the grave Mahomet Weyonomon - a Native American who died in 1736 - in the grounds of Southwark Cathedral..https://www.blogger.com/profile/17026835814805695527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3287675141745937676.post-34269495862471426122009-05-24T11:33:54.863+01:002009-05-24T11:33:54.863+01:00He was actually buried there; the memorial was sup...He was actually buried there; the memorial was supposed to be erected after, but for some reason it never happened so the grave was unmarked.CarolineLDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00197813252586559665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3287675141745937676.post-82670799216322730782009-05-24T10:12:38.558+01:002009-05-24T10:12:38.558+01:00Very interesting - was Mydiddee actually buried in...Very interesting - was Mydiddee actually buried in St Pauls, or is that just where the memorial is?.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17026835814805695527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3287675141745937676.post-65955882072550158642008-12-11T09:54:00.000+00:002008-12-11T09:54:00.000+00:00Just spent ages reading your posts, how fascinatin...Just spent ages reading your posts, how fascinating! It's an interesting comparison with the tomb of Prince Lee Boo at Rotherhithe.
We also tend to forget that Bligh presided over another mutiny when he was governor of New South Wales - the Rum Rebellion. He made the mistake of trying to help poor farmers against the interests of rich traders.
ChrisChris Partridgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14883064324795042491noreply@blogger.com
